My name is Shannon Dooling. I'm a Certified 200 hour yoga teacher, Reiki master, herbalist, aromatherapist, fermenting queen, homesteader & plant whisperer. I have devoted the past 13 years of my life to learning as much as I can to better my life by deepening my connection with the earth and all its inhabitants. Growing food, and learning about permaculture and regenerative farming has become my dharma. I'm currently the proud mamma of a 51 acre oasis that I call my home.
My journey to sustainability and yoga started In the fall of 2009. When I started attending an environmental class at Community College. The teacher was so enthusiastic, passionate & knowledgeable. She opened my eyes to the impact humans put on the environment, & how we can make the world a better place. My awareness shifted, I started making conscious decisions about were my food came from. I started buying local & organic. I consciously started learning how to become more sustainable, self reliant & resilient. The following season I started working at Burroughs Organic Vegetable Farm in 2010. I had no former growing or food production experience. I learned so much & became even more interested in plants as the years rolled on. I have worked on several different farms throughout the years since, gaining a variety of skills in various agricultural disciplines. During the same year a friend took me to a Bikrim class. I was hooked! My mind & body felt harmonized. This new profound love propelled me to try as many different styles of yoga & movement as possible. From 2012-2013 I attended The Boston School Of Herbal Studies & became a certified Aromatherapist & herbalist. By 2012 I had religiously been practicing yoga. While working on Burrough's farm I contracted Lyme Disease. My advanced practice became a beginners practice overnight. Although the pain & frustration seemed almost unbearable I never stopped practicing. Herbs & plants become my allies. They nurtured my recovery, allowing me to cope with stress & tension gracefully. In 2015 I attended a 200 hour yoga teacher training at Living Yoga in Concord NH. I learned that yoga was not just asanas & getting fit. It became a way of life, a journey to the self. A practice that enveloped every facet of my life. A spiritual practice nestled in healing deep rooted trauma. Daily practices and self study help me find a sense of purpose & connection and refine what it means to be home. Everyday is different, everyday my body is different. Everyday my mind is different. I have learned Patience & compassion & most importantly how to be kind to myself & others. I have been practicing yoga & various farming techniques ever since. I am excited & honored to share this passion & wisdom with others.
